Rapid collection of iron hydroxiedes for determination of Th isotopes in seawater using polyamin type chelating resin

no journal, ,

This work introduces a novel method of recovery of iron hydroxide with thorium using a DIAION CR-20 chelating resin column to determine Th isotopes in seawater with a sector field (SF) inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS). Thorium isotopes in seawater were co-precipitated with iron hydroxide, and this precipitate was sent to chelating resin column. The chelating column quantitatively collect $$^{232}$$Th with iron hydroxide in seawater at flow rate of 20-25 mL/min. Based on this flow rate, 5 L sample was processed within 3-4 h. The aging of iron hydroxide tends to reduce the recovery of $$^{232}$$Th. The rapid collection method was successfully applied to the determination of$$^{230}$$ Th and $$^{232}$$Th in open-ocean seawater samples.

Luminescence properties and efficient microwave synthesis of latent derivatives of diketo-pyrrolo-pyrrole and their film

Nakano, Masaki*; Oishi, Tomoji*; Watanabe, Masayuki; Aoyagi, Noboru

no journal, ,

In accordance with the development of display devices, study of the organic pigment for colour filter (CF) has become an active area of research. In this manner, the latent pigment has been drawn attention because of its both robustness and solubilization to organic solvent where latent pigment has blocking groups to avoid molecular aggregation in order to solubilize to organic solvent. This latent pigment returns to original pigment by heating treatment. These properties advantage in the usability of pigment to form films and the onset of robustness to utilize as pigment. In this study, derivatives of diketo pyrrolo pyrole (DPP) as a red CF pigment were synthesized efficiently by microwave and produce latent pigment and its film and investigated their luminescence properties.
